He graduated from Simeon High School where he was on the honor roll.  He spent 2 years at Chicago State studying Criminal Justice.

He has coached at the grammar school level for 15 years and is presently at James Madison Elementary.

Bonds also coached at South Shore High School from 1993 to 1996 where he worked with Paul McPhearson who later went on to the NBA, Joel Bullock a graduate of UIC and Marlow Miles who graduated from Tulane.

His goals for BTMA are to get the boys prepared for the next level making sure they are academically prepared to meet the challenges of life.  In working with the sports segment, he will be trying to teach them how to mentally function in the game, which will also help them with their academic responsibilities.

"The boys have a tough road ahead" says Coach Bonds "...because we plan to really enhance their skills and develop a very fundamentally sound basketball player in each one of them.  I'll be working with the boys individually as well as in groups preparing them to be the best at their positions.  We will be working with them on and off the courts. In regard to weight training, we will be expecting them to hit their personal maximum weights or better ... lot of treadmill work, cardio, step aerobics to enhance flexibility ... lots of agility work to enhance coordination.  To top it all off, I will be assisting Coach Jackson as I have for the last 8 years in coaching the team to a National Championship."

Coach Bonds goes on to say ..."We will not be playing in the Chicago Public School system league but we will be competitive in the National Prep School level.  Presently we are being estimated to rank in the top 10 Nationally and you can be assured that we will be working toward that and higher!"

"The things they don't know they can do, we intend to bring out in them.  They won't just roll out the balls and be good, they'll know discipline and technique, and how to think on-the-run.  They are already celebrities even before they have started ... at the Health Club the members stop their workouts to watch our boys working.  We will be playing under the nickname of the Blue Devils."
